RECONSTRUCTION OF FESSERTON ROAD, FERNLEIGH CIRCLE NORTH AND SOUTH, BENFER ROAD, BENT CRESCENT, MARALIM ROAD AND MARAMAK ROAD
This notice serves to advise you that the Reconstruction of Fesserton Road, Fernleigh Circle North and South, Benfer Road, Bent Crescent, Maralim Road and Maramak Road, Contract TE-03-09, is scheduled to commence the week of April 14th, 2009 with the contractor installing erosion and sediment controls, locating their site office followed by mobilizing their workforce and equipment. The first tasks planned will be to pulverize the existing asphalt roadway followed by the installation of underground services.
The work is being undertaken by the Town's contractor, Mar-King Construction Company Limited, and will include the construction of a new watermain and appurtenances and catchbasins followed by the excavation of the existing road and the placing of new granular road base and concrete sidewalks.
You will receive advance notification of the minor disruption in water service that will occasionally be necessary during the watermain construction.
As you are no doubt aware, storm sewers will be installed and the existing ditch drainage system will be eliminated. During construction, we expect to encounter previously unidentified pipes that are outletting to the existing ditch system. From previous experience, these pipes can be either sump pump drains, pool drains or roof leaders, however, not all pipes are visible. It should be noted, that only existing sump pump drains which currently outlet by means of a pipe to the existing ditch will be connected to the storm sewer. All other pipes, including roof leaders and pool drains, must be disconnected on private property by the homeowner and directed overland, e.g., on grassed areas or your driveway. In conformance with current sewer use By-law and Town of Richmond Hill standards, storm sewers are not designed to convey water from roof tops or pool drains. We are therefore requesting your assistance in locating and identifying all pipes currently outletting to the existing ditches in order to determine the specific course of action required. These pipes should be pointed out to the Town's Representative on-site.
As part of the work, it will be necessary for a portion of the existing driveways to be restored to match the new road. Boulevard areas that are disturbed during construction will be sodded. The contractor will be responsible for the initial watering. In order to promote healthy turf, we ask for your cooperation in maintaining and watering the sodded areas after it has been established.
The Town's Representative, Mr. John Croxall, SRM Associates (A Member of The Sernas Group Inc.), will be on-site to review the work in progress and can be reached at 905-686-6402, or his cell phone number 905-718-5799, should any problems arise with regard to the construction.
Furthermore, there may be some disruption of postal delivery during the construction. Please contact your local post office in this regard.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the construction.
Yours truly,
Daniel Bertolo, P.Eng.
